HOW KATE BECAME A TEACHER
I’m Kate Anderson-Ellis. I’m the mother of six awesome and unique kids (ranging from 6-18 ages). I’m the wife of an amazingly supportive man, Jonathan Ellis. As a family, we focus on our core values and family motto. Teamwork makes the dream work!
I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Development, a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction and enjoyed doing my student teaching in London, England. To further my education, I received a reading and math endorsement as well.

HOW KATE BECAME INTERESTED IN MATH
I have provided additional math support throughout my years in the classroom. I spent 10 years teaching EIP math segments for 1st, 4th, and 5th grade. Over 6 years, I taught math instructional extension (before/after school additional instructional support). In these settings, I planned scaffolded instructional support using multiple strategies and resources.
My love of math has always led me to work on numerous math teams and committees at the school, county, and state levels since 2005. As a leader, I was involved in various leadership positions. I served as a grade-level chair for 8 years. I participated on the county team to review new math standards three different times, and I served on my school math committee for fifteen years and the county math committee team for seven years. These opportunities allowed me to dig deep into standards and research to continue to build my mathematical teaching knowledge
WHAT KATE IS DOING CURRENTLY
Professional development is important for teachers to continue to evolve and grow. I led county professional development twelve different times and on a state level three different times. After 17 years of teaching (kindergarten-5th grade), I decided to resign from the classroom to focus on my passion for content and curriculum with the goal to reach and impact students across America and beyond instead of in a single classroom. Even though I am not teaching full time, I continue to work in the classroom weekly. I work with kindergarten-5th grade in small groups, provide individual support, and focus on project-based learning with multiple grade-level groups each month. I am looking forward to connecting with you to share my expertise and resources with YOU.
